Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic

 

 

 

ROLE STATEMENT: 

 

The Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic will be a member of the Maintenance department responsible for providing support to complete daily repairs and preventative maintenance and be able to perform assigned tasks and duties under supervision of a journeyman. It is the focus of the apprentice to assist the journeyman in their daily activities and learn the ins and outs of both the shop and the equipment. Apprentices at TKS can expect to take on a wider variety of tasks and more responsibility than most companies offer, while getting all of the support they need. This means that you will learn more and have a more rewarding work experience!

 

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • Act as a safety leader and promote an active safety culture

  • Complete assignments in a timely and effective manner

  • Ensure that all paperwork is completed both accurately and on time

  • Record all equipment deficiencies

  • Remote field work may be required

  • Must attend all pre job meetings and attend safety meetings when required 

 

 

KEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES:

 

  • Self motivated and have good computer and communication skills

  • Ability to read and understand equipment and vehicle repair manuals

  • Be a quick learner

  • Have a positive attitude and a willingness to help

  • Be physically fit 

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Accepting applications from apprentices in all years of apprenticeship

  • Field experience considered an asset but not necessary

  • Minimum 1 year related experience

  • Class 5 license required, Class 3 license considered an asset
